About Us

Welcome to the Atlanta Athletic Club, home club of the legendary golfer Robert Tyre (Bobby) Jones, Jr.

As a visitor or a guest, the members of the club are proud to welcome you to our outstanding golf, fitness, tennis, aquatic and social amenities.

The AAC is known nationally and  internationally for its facilities, having been chosen as a Platinum Club every year by the Club Leaders Forum.

Our two Championship 18-hole golf courses, nine-hole par 3 course, 42,000 sq. ft. fitness center, outdoor clay courts and indoor tennis facility, Olympic-sized pool and our magnificent club rooms and dining facilities make up a vibrant hub of activity that offers members, their families and guests an unsurpassed athletic, recreational and social experience.

Our charter as a private club dates back to 1898 when a group of young businessmen were looking for a place to enjoy indoor and outdoor athletics with their associates and friends. The original downtown club was located on Edgewood Avenue and through the ages twice outgrew its space and relocated. The club added a golf course and country club at East Lake in 1915 and moved to the present Johns Creek location in the late 1960s.

The great golfer, Bobby Jones, grew up playing golf at the Atlanta Athletic Club’s East Lake Country Club, which the club built in 1906. Bobby Jones became the world’s most famous amateur golfer and his career culminated with the Grand Slam of golf in 1930. He served as president of the Club and was an active member until his death in 1971.
